About Made Whole
MADE WHOLE is a health and wellness coaching service based on the Biblical model that provides help for the most challenging problems people face in today’s society. We go to the heart of matters, our thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and it is out of the heart that the issues of life flow. Unresolved heart issues can lead to higher stress levels, poor sleep, lifestyle habits, and an unhealthy brain.
Our coaching principles are based on three foundational Biblical principles, one “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life,” two, “Ye shall know the Truth and the Truth will set you free,” and the third principle ask the question, “Will thou be made whole?
What do these Biblical principles mean?
- Keep thy heart with all diligence is prevention, stopping the cycle, guarding what is allowed into the heart
- Knowing the truth implies knowledge, awareness of issues, facing reality, accepting the liberty of freedom
- Will thou be made whole? Involves a decision, to take action, to be relieved and restored
When individuals decide that they want to be free, and embrace these principles, freedom is possible. My mission is that of helping individuals, through coaching, receive freedom from their issues, become the people they were intended to be and want to be, and achieve wholeness in every aspect of their lives.
Why Our Focus on Mental Health?
Our emphasis on mental health is driven by the significant influence that psychological and emotional well-being has on overall health. Addressing mental health issues, especially those stemming from Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), is vital for long-term wellness.
Key Statistics on ACEs:
- Prevalence of Child Abuse: The CDC reports that 1 in 7 children in the U.S. is abused.
- Exposure to ACEs: According to the CDC, 64% of adults across 25 states experienced at least one ACE before age 18, and nearly 1 in 6 experienced four or more.
- Link to Leading Causes of Death: The CDC identifies that five leading causes of death—heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, and respiratory issues—are linked to early childhood trauma.
- Widespread Impact: Approximately 34.8 million children in the U.S. are affected by ACEs, impacting all races and socioeconomic groups.
Childhood trauma often manifests in adulthood, leading to issues such as overeating, smoking, alcoholism, ADD, asthma, incarceration, gambling, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, promiscuity, violence, mental illness, suicide, poverty, STDs, obesity, poor social skills, and divorces. Addressing these early traumas is crucial for breaking this cycle and promoting healthier lives.
By focusing on mental health and the effects of ACEs, we aim to foster healing and enhance overall well-being, thereby reducing the long-term health impacts on society.
Our strength is in how we solve problems.
MADE WHOLE is different in that it gets to the root cause of issues that affect people’s lives. Issues of the heart do not occur in a vacuum, there is always a cause, and with them, people can develop multiple physical, mental, spiritual, and social problems. For example, during my adolescence and early adult life, I was a compulsive overeater. My overeating led to obesity, and my obesity led to several other problems, joint pain, anxiety, depression, and social isolation. Were these physical, mental, and social issues my problem or a symptom of another problem? They were symptoms of a root issue. My root problem was an unmet emotional need, which wounded my heart. My emotional pain was temporarily relieved by food. As with my issues, knowing the cause, I work with individuals to understand where they are and how they got there, help them visualize where they can be, and help them resolve their issues and be Made Whole.
